New eco-friendly Oris Aquis with dial made from recycled fishing nets

Oris has been working on environmentally conscious collaborations for a while now, and is back with another great collaboration, this time with social enterprise Bracenet

In 2015, the founders of Bracenet were diving in Tanzania when they learned of the tragedy of the "ghost nets", lost, abandoned or discarded fishing nets that have been floating in the ocean for centuries and leave a terrible impact on ocean life in their wake.

In this case, these waste nets are used to make dials.

I am a kaleidoscope born from small green, blue and white scraps, gently heated and melted, then cooled and hardened into a thin sheet of material. The sheet is then cut to size, planed and sanded to a thickness of 0.3mm with no additives, fillers or glues used in the process.

There are no additives, fillers or glues. No two dials are the same.
